D. Gopalakrishnan is an experienced professional with a demonstrated history of working in the textile and allied industry. He possesses strong expertise in textiles, supported by a solid research background and is a committed professional with proven academic and industry exposure. He holds a M.Tech Textile Technology (in specialization with Textile Chemistry) and submitted his PhD (Technology) recently. He has multidisciplinary academic qualifications including MBA (Technology Management), MSc (Costume Design and Fashion) and MSc (Applied Psychology). He is NET (Home Science) & TNSET (Home Science) qualified. Also completed specialized professional programs such as Post Diploma in Home Textile Management (PDHTM), PG Diploma in Personnel, Industrial Relations and Labour Welfare (PGDPM) and Diploma in Textile Technology. He has demonstrated strong innovation capabilities with five patents filed and published, of which two have been granted for reflecting his contribution to research and technology development in the textile sector. He has published books titled Apparel Manufacturing Technology, Home Textiles, Textile Chemical Processing, Technical Textiles, Textile Testing, Textile Finishing, Nonwoven – Processing & Characterization and Advanced Computer Applications in Clothing. He has also contributed several book chapters and research articles in reputed national and international journals. His research impact is evidenced by a Google Scholar h-index of 9 and an i10-index of 9 (2025), underscoring his sustained scholarly contributions to textile science and technology. He also serves as a reviewer for several reputed national and international journals, reflecting his academic credibility and expertise in the field. He has developed curriculum content for skill-sector courses in Embroidery, Handloom, Dairying and Photography demonstrating his commitment to vocational education and skill development. His research interests include Nonwovens, Textile Finishing and Dyeing, Conventional & sustainable Fibres and Fabric Comfort, reflecting his focus on both fundamental and applied textile research.
