7th Convocation of SVPISTM, autonomous Institution under Ministry of Textiles Govt. of India was held in our institute on 6th December 2014. Director Dr. C. Rameshkumar has given welcome speech and released the annual report of SVPISTM for the year 2013-2014. In his speech he mentioned the industrial visit, student exchange from foreign universities, NEEDS, Internship, Conference and seminars, NCUTE and Training given for Unemployed youth etc.
SVPISTM Chairman Dr. Picheshwar Gadde in his speech motivates the students to develop positive attitude to achieve their goals. He wished the students to become entrepreneur by utilizing raw materials and resources available in our country and bring Indian Textile Industry to the forefront in the global arena. In his speech added the textile sector is the second largest employer in the Country. Every profession has to keep pace with the changing trends and requirements. The same is true with the handloom and power loom sectors as well. They also need to change and develop according to the changing demands of the day.
SVPISTM can be a role model for other textile institutions to produce class managers. The importance of having world class professional managers cannot be ignored. The Government will ensure that all infrastructural facilities are provided to make SVPISTM a leading institute in the country. Feelers from industry indicate that there shall be campus placements, rendering wide opportunities for the outgoing students
Chief Guest Shri.M.Senthilkumar, Deputy Chairman of Southern India Mills Association, has given the convocation address. In his speech, he encouraged the students to become entrepreneurs by getting experience from industries and make India as the leading textile export country in the world. He also added the schemes and subsidies available by the government to the budding textile entrepreneurs. He said to be aware of today’s scenario prevailing in the Indian Textile Industry, to increase our contribution to the global merchandise trade, we have decisive milestones to be reached in every component of the value chain in Textiles right from fibre to the finished product . He added in his speech that the wide range of applications, lack of competition ,growing consumer and industrial demands make it an attractive option to invest in. Though India is the 2nd largest textile economy in the world after China; its contribution in the global technical textile industry is insignificant. He pronounced to understand the multifact challenges and ripple effects of our economy that certainly needs very specific and profound knowledge with specialised tools and wished the graduating students to understand these challenges clearly and act accordingly.
63 students were awarded PGDM degree and Ms. Kaveri R Das, Mr. Ebenezer, Mr. Arunkumar are appreciated with meritorious awards, cash prizes and shields sponsored by the leading industrialists TRUTZCHLER INDIA LIMITED, RAMRAJ COTTON, LAKSHMI MACHINE WORKS AND PRECITEX.
Best outgoing student’s award was given to Ms Aiswarya for her overall performance.
